Gladdening Herb, Anyone?
Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) has been referred to as the gladdening herb known to be uplifting to the spirit. This herb is one of my favorites that is in use daily in our home. Lemon balm is considered a gentle nervine and is from the mint family. Herbs that are classified as nervines support our nervous system. I believe we could all use support for our nervous system. Lemon balm is a wonderful herb to work with if you are the social butterfly, constantly on the go, that may get a little overstimulated. Lemon balm also helps with digestive issues especially if you hold stress in your tummy. It’s fantastic for kids and the elderly and of course everyone else in between. Lemon balm has a calming energy and has a lovely taste. It’s also fun to grow and it has a lemon aroma.
