CHAI TEA
A blend of darjeeling tea and spices is sure to provide warmth and comfort as we move into the Autumn season. Chai derived from the Hindi translation literally means “tea.” While there are varied recipes for Chai tea, traditionally it is black tea combined with spices and milk more commonly referred to as Masala Chai.

Black tea is high in antioxidants having a positive effect on our body and immune system

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum spp.)
Traditionally used as a warming stimulant for “cold conditions” increase in blood flow especially during times of the seasons that brought on the flu or a cold. Other actions includes antioxidant properties, antifungal, antimicrobial along with being a carminative.
Clove (Eugenia caryophyllata syn. Syzgium aromaticum)
Considered an all-purpose ancient remedy in Southeast Asia. Cloves have antiseptic properties along with antispasmodic actions especially around digestion issues. It is also considered a stimulant for the mind and body.
Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
Commonly used today for digestive issues along with stimulating the circulatory system. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidants are included in the actions of this highly beneficial root.
Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum)
Another ancient spice used for centuries benefiting digestive issues and has been considered digestive tonic. It is a mild stimulant and also has antispasmodic actions.
Suggested Use:
Use 1-2 teaspoons of chai tea per 8 oz. of boiling water. Allow for the tea to infuse for at least 3-5 minutes to benefit from the full flavor of this gorgeous tea. Add a little bit of honey or sweetener and milk of choice.
